There are SO many perks of staying on Disney property and one of my favorite perks of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort are the Extra Magic Hours.
Extra Magic Hours offer extended visiting times (extra hours), either in the morning or in the evening, at each of the theme parks when the park is otherwise closed to the general public.
These EXTRA Magic Hours are a FREE perk available ONLY to guests staying on Disney property.
Each day, one of the four Walt Disney World theme parks opens one hour early or remains open up to 2 hours after regular closing time.
You can easily find the Extra Magic Hours for each day here: Extra Magic Hour Calendar
In this example, the Magic Kingdom has 2 Extra Magic Hours, in the evening from 8 pm until 10 pm.
The park is only open to the general public from 9 am to 8 pm on this day, but those who are staying on Disney property get to enjoy an ADDITIONAL 2 FREE HOURS! What does that mean for you? It means you get 2 extra hours in the park… meaning less crowds since it is closed at that time to the general public. You will also have less wait times for attractions, rides and shopping. Great perk huh? We think so!
Each day a different park will offer the Extra Magic Hours. As you can see, on the next day, Epcot offers 1 EXTRA Magic Hour in the morning. The park does not open to the general public until 9 am, but guests staying st a Walt Disney Resort can get into the park an hour early, at 8 am.
We always plan our theme park visits around the Extra Magic Hours. For example, if we are going for 5 days we plan to visit the Magic Kingdom on the day that park offers the extra Magic Hours, then visit Epcot and the other parks on the days that they offer the Extra Magic Hours.
If we were vacationing right now, based on the dates in the pictures above, we would visit the Magic Kingdom today for the 2 Extra Magic Hours offered this evening and then we would visit Epcot tomorrow for the Extra Magic Hour in the morning.
These Extra Magic Hours provide guests staying on Disney property the opportunity to get some EXTRA MAGIC added to their vacation. It may mean getting on a ride that otherwise may have a long wait time.
