On my most recent trip to Walt Disney World I experienced Disney After Hours for the first time. For those of you who do not know what Disney After Hours is, it is a special ticketed event and a very magical occasion when Magic Kingdom park stays open for 3 extra hours - after the park closes to other Guests! This event is only available on select nights from January through March, 2018 and a limited number of tickets are sold. Those with tickets will receive a lanyard for the event.

I attended this event on Friday, January 19th, which was the very first night this event was available this year.

On this night, the park closed at 8 p.m. for regular Guests, but those who had Disney After Hours tickets were allowed to enter the park at 7 p.m. and able to enjoy Happily Ever After at Cinderella's Castle. If you have not experienced Happily Ever After, you don't know what you are missing! Happily Ever After starts with a dream… and takes you on an unforgettable journey that captures the heart, humor and heroism of many favorite Disney animated films, including: Aladdin Big Hero Six Brave Frozen The Hunchback of Notre Dame The Incredibles The Lion King The Little Mermaid Moana Mulan Tarzan The Princess and the Frog Toy Story Up WALL-E Wreck-It Ralph and Zootopia This 18-minute show features more lasers, lights and projections than any other fireworks spectacular in the history of Magic Kingdom park! Throughout Happily Ever After, you’ll witness the many transformations of Cinderella Castle as it becomes a part of popular Disney stories—and is brought to life by: Awe-inspiring fireworks and rooftop pyros State-of-the-art projections Brilliant lasers and immersive lighting A stirring score featuring contemporary versions of popular Disney songs It all comes together in a dazzling way—for a fantastical finale to your day at Magic Kingdom park or in this case the START of Disney After Hours!

During this 3 hour event I was able to walk-on so many popular attractions with little to no wait times! I was able to do Character Meets with no waits and there were many PhotoPass Photographers there to snap my picture. If you do this event you should consider getting Memory Maker because you will be able to enjoy so many great picture oppurtunities on the rides and throughout the park. Here are the rides that were open the night I attended: Jungle Cruise The Magic Carpets of Aladdin Pirates of the Caribbean Swiss Family Treehouse Enchanted Tiki Room Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Country Bear Jamboree Haunted Mansion The Barnstormer Dumbo the Flying Elephant it's a small world Mad Tea party The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Mickey's PhilharMagic Peter Pan's Flight Prince Charming Carrousel Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Under the Sea - Little Mermaid Astro Oribiter Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Space Mountain Tomorrowland Speedway The Transit Authority People Mover I was not able to ride Pirates of the Caribbean because it was temporarily down when I went to ride. I also did not ride Space Mountain as I personally don't enjoy that ride much. Everything else I was able to walk right on, over and over again. I think I rode Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at least 5 times and several other rides I rode numerous times as well. I also did Character Meets that I have normally skipped on previous trips because I did not want to wait in the lines. Just being able to enjoy the near emptiness of the park also allowed me to take so many amazing photos. Being on Main Street USA when the park was basically empty was a great experience and I was able to go at a slower pace and just really take everything in and enjoy it. It was like seeing new things for the first time. Also, throughout the event I was able to enjoy unlimited FREE bottled drinks such as soda and water and also FREE ice cream treats, including the Mickey Premium Bars, and FREE popcorn! Tickets are still available for January 30th, February 8th and 15th and March 1st and the 8th. If you plan on being at Disney on any of those dates I highly recommend getting tickets to attend Disney's After Hours event and would love to help you with tickets.
